Boston Dance Company Philosophy and Mission 

The Boston Dance Company, a non-profit organization, was founded in 1992 by James Reardon and Clyde Nantais. With the vision of offering high quality dance, in Boston and throughout New England - the company has grown into a prominent respected arts troupe, particularly engaging the underserved communities. BDC continues its goal to develop a diverse company and school which provides professioal dancers, as well as children, the opportunity to study and perform the works of many different choreographers and to provide high quality dance productions.

The repertory includes classical balllets, Balanchine ballets, reconstructed historic works, 20th century masterpieces, and new works by emerging local choreographers specifically commissioned for BDC.

Through our ongoing relationships with the Strand Theater in Dorchester, Salem State College, Collins Center for Performing Arts, the BDC continues to utilize the talent of local young dancers in our annual production of the Nutcracker and in family-oriented Spring productions.

The BDC school pedagogy focuses on clean, classical ballet technique and particularly emphasizes the speed, attack, musicality and versatility required by contemporary choreographers. Classes challenge the student to grow as technician and artist in a nurturing yet focused environment. Two performance seasons are offered to all of our enrolled students. They include the Nutcracker and End of the Year Spring Performance.
